National Color Therapy Month

March 17, 2014

You may ask, "What is color therapy?" and there is a simple answer: Also known as chromo therapy, color therapy is an alternative form of healing using light frequencies (wavelengths) to holistically and non invasively heal patients. Light and color have been known to restore balance to the patient, enhancing and stimulating the ability to heal.

Color in the Home
Just as light and color play an important part in restoring balance to people, they are as important in the home when choosing paint, flooring, furnishings and accessories. Due to the fact that our color choices are an extension of ourselves, however subconsciously that may be, the results can be fairly spectacular.
Color is responsible for moods, just as much as the various aromas of essential oils are. Red can agitate, lavender can calm and yellow can induce a sunny, happy disposition. When you walk around your home, what colors do you see and how do they affect you? This can be an eye-opener for many.

A Stroke of Genius!
Designers everywhere have a story or two about the transformation of a client’s home after only changing the wall color. Painting a room is one of the least expensive fixes in interior design: a couple of gallons of paint, a floor cloth, some brushes and you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and transform your living space.

If this sounds a little far fetched, try placing several different swatches of colored fabric on your living room wall and view at different times of the day. Just as the colors transform with variances of light, so does your mood. Light and color change the way we feel. Maybe, with spring around the corner, it’s time for a color change in your own home!
