How to get the Florida Energy Star appliance rebate

April 7, 2010

Are you in the market for a new appliance for your home? Want to save some money and improve the quality of the environment? Get a 20% mail-in rebate for your purchase of an Energy Star appliance between April 16 – April 25 plus an additional $75 rebate if you recycle your old appliance.

Florida has a total funding balance of $17,585,000 for rebates, on a first come, first served basis; so be aware that the money could run out quickly.

The following Energy Star appliances are eligible for the rebate:

  • Clothes washers
  • Dishwashers
  • Refrigerators
  • Freezers
  • Room Air Conditioners
  • Gas Tankless Water Heaters

There are some rules. To get the 20% rebate, you must provide evidence of your purchase by sending in your receipt, along with the completed rebate application, (which will be available at all retailers). To get the added $75 rebate for recycling, the invoice must indicate delivery of your new appliance and removal of the old, by the retailer. All appliances must be purchased between April 16 – 25th with no retroactive rebates given. You must also be a Florida resident. Another incentive to purchase Energy Star products is the tax credit, which amounts to 30% of the cost of your appliances (up to $1500 in value). There are over 60 Energy Star products categories eligible for tax credits.
