Classic Blue: How to Embrace the Pantone Color of 2020

February 21, 2020

Pantone has announced its chosen color of 2020 and countless designers out there are thrilled to discover that it is Classic Blue. To celebrate the choice, we changed the color theme of our website to classic blue! This year’s choice is significantly ‘safer’ than last year’s Living Coral selection, and it provides homeowners with plenty of opportunities to transform their homes into tranquil, thought-provoking havens.

What Are the Reasons Behind the Color Choice?

According to Pantone representatives, the decision to make Classic Blue the 2020 Pantone Color of the Year was made, in large part, due to its familiarity. We see it everywhere we look, from the darkened sky at dusk to the ripened blueberries in our yogurt each morning. As we enter a brand new decade and a period of the unknown, this sense of familiarity and consistency is endlessly comforting – and this is why so many homeowners are keen to reflect this color in the decor of their homes.

Embracing Classic Blue

The Classic Blue hue is extremely versatile in that it can be selected as a prominent aspect of your color scheme. On the other hand, it can be used to complement more neutral shades for a natural aesthetic. This is especially true when it comes to kitchen cabinetry. Homeowners may opt to have their cabinetry custom-made, incorporating Classic Blue as the main color of each cabinet. Alternatively, they may opt for traditional gray, white or black cabinetry, accenting these neutral colors with Classic Blue handles or subtle ornamental imagery and/or designs on the cabinetry doors. The color can also be embraced and emphasized further with the help of table cloths and window treatments in a similar hue.
