Beautiful Bathroom Trends for 2020

December 2, 2019

As 2019 comes to an end, several home design trends are starting to take hold and are likely to become dominant in people’s home decor choices in the New Year. It would take a much longer blog to look at trends in all areas of the home, so we decided to focus on those specific to bathroom design. Here are the top trends to look out for in 2020 if you’re thinking of remodeling your bathroom.

Colors

At the Milan Design Show this year, it was revealed that the biggest, on-trend colors this year are champagne, pumpkin red, and light yellow. These are quite prominent colors, so it might be worth using them on accessories rather than painting and tiling. You could use them on cabinet door handles, rather on the doors themselves, for example. If you don’t like any of these, you still can’t go wrong with light and understated tiling, wallpaper or paint options, coupled with warm colors in your cabinetry.

Minimalism

In 2020, bathroom style trends lean toward the minimal. This means that bulky furnishings and big vanities are being replaced by lighter, console-like designs. Cabinetry choices would follow suit, with open shelving, as well as other, more lightweight and open storage solutions.

Freestanding, Distinctive Vanities

The exception to the minimalist vanity trend is the increased appetite for distinctive, standalone vanities. This provides an opportunity to create a really beautiful piece of cabinetry, in line with your particular style, which can form the centerpiece of your bathroom.

Matte Finishes Over Lacquered Ones

Lacquered cabinets are out of fashion after having been popular for many years. Matte finishes are now in.
